Second generation Florida and Ormond Beach native, Elana has been working with her mom, Mimi at Mimi Munro Surf Camp LLC for the last ten years.  She has two children, Blaize: 16 and Charlotte: 5, who enjoy the ocean and love the sport of surfing as much as her.  With twenty years of surfing experience, Elana strives to provide quality surf instruction while displaying the ultimate respect for the ocean. She enjoys riding her short board and longboard, especially with friends and family.   She also enjoys volunteering with Surfers for Autism.  When she is not at the beach Elana works as a massage therapist at the Ormond Beach YMCA and Milagro Massage in Flagler Beach.

Elana Carroll

I am a 1st generation native of this area, born @ Halifax Hospital and raised in Ormond Beach. Did a little competative swimming, sailing, tennis and several years of tap, jazz, and ballet, before I started surfing.

When I was 10 yrs old, friends Pete and Frank Holby encouraged me to ride the white water on thier 10ft. Wardie surfboard. I was stoked on the 1st wave. Tried to surf everyday on a borrowed surfboard. Seemed a natural progression in the Ocean, since I had been fishing, swimming, bodysurfing and raft-riding, since I was a toddler, at the same beach where Surf Camp is held.

Surfed competively from 12-16 yrs. old., went to do

other things, and returned to surfing  at 38 yrs. old.

I was asked to be the head instructor for the Volusia County Beaches Surf Camp from it's beginning in

1996, until the program was terminated.

By demand, I started my own surfing instruction, and

that grew into surf camps.

My full time massage therapy practice is in it's 25th year.

I love to surf, garden, read, take long walks with my dogs, on the beach and in the woods, watch birds, be with friends, listen to music, dance, laugh, help others and be with my children and thier families.

As a mother of 4, a grandmother of 9, and a great-grandmother of 1, safety is foremost on my mind.

My desire is to cutivate a life long love and respect

for the Ocean, surfing and the surfing lifestyle.
